Introduce one of the absolute largest, boldest, and most impressive morphs of the harlequin family to your setup with the Oophaga histrionica "Pacasi". Also referred to in some professional circles as the "Anchicaya" locale, the "Pacasi" stands out as a true heavyweight among large obligate egg-feeders. They feature a deep, velvet-black body heavily decorated with highly variable, large splotches and frames of striking yellow, fiery orange, and intense red.
Because they are notably bulky, confident, and highly active during daylight hours, "Pacasi" histrionica make spectacular display animals for expansive, master-tier tropical enclosures. Like all members of their genus, they possess unmatched reproductive traits: females carefully distribute their tadpoles into tiny water pools within your terrarium plants, returning consistently to nurse them strictly with unfertilized food eggs. Due to their aggressive territorial natures and loud acoustic warning calls, they thrive best when kept exclusively in single, well-matched pairs.
Highlights & Features
- True "Large" Obligate Morph: One of the largest, bulkiest, and most confident color forms available in the Oophaga hobby.
- High-Contrast "Pacasi" Splotching: Intricate, variable patterns of yellow, orange, and red framing against a deep black base.
- Intense Parental Behavior: Watch females actively rear and feed their developing tadpoles in a beautifully synchronized, bioactive cycle.
- Bold Canopy Explorers: Highly visible during the day, spending their time navigating large vertical branches, background walls, and broad foliage.
