Oophaga sylvatica "Pata Blanca" Dart Frog

The Pata Blanca is a stunning locale of Oophaga sylvatica, the diablito or "little devil" poison dart frog native to the lowland forests of Ecuador and Colombia. Sylvatica is one of the most variable and vividly colored species in the entire dart frog hobby, and the Pata Blanca locale is prized for its bold coloration and striking contrast.

Like all Oophaga, sylvatica are bold, day-active, and endlessly engaging frogs with real personality. They spend their time out in the open exploring rather than hiding, which makes them one of the most rewarding dart frogs to watch. Sylvatica are also fascinating parents: females are obligate egg-feeders, individually raising their tadpoles and feeding them unfertilized eggs, a remarkable behavior shared by only a handful of frog species.

As an obligate egg-feeder and a prized locale, Pata Blanca is best suited to keepers with some dart frog experience, or a committed keeper ready to provide a properly planted, bromeliad-rich vivarium. Given the right setup, they are hardy, long-lived, and genuinely spectacular display animals.

Shipments are climate-monitored and packed in insulated boxes with heat or cold packs as weather dictates. Note: live arrival guarantee requires a signature upon the very first delivery attempt.

🏪 Local NJ Pickup (Advance Notice Required): Because these rare frogs are kept under strict bio-security protocols at our off-site frog breeding facility, they are not housed on our main storefront shelves. You are welcome to pick them up locally, but we require advance notice so our team has time to coordinate a secure drop-off at our main retail storefront. Alternatively, pickup can be arranged directly at our Northern New Jersey dart frog breeding facility. Please contact us after checkout to coordinate your pickup location and time.
