The Pink-Tongued Skink is the elegant, slender cousin to the more common Blue-Tongue. Native to the coastal forests of Australia, these skinks are built for a life among the branches. Unlike the heavy-bodied Blue-Tongue, the "Pinky" features a long, semi-prehensile tail and specialized claws that make them agile climbers. Their name comes from their bubblegum-pink tongue, which provides a startling contrast to their sophisticated scale patterns.

Aesthetically, Pink-Tongued Skinks are masters of the "neutral" palette, displaying beautiful silver, tan, or light brown bodies with dark, crisp cross-banding that mimics the look of a lichen-covered branch. One of the most fascinating aspects of this species is their specialized diet; in the wild, they are primarily snail-eaters (molluscivores). In captivity, they are easily maintained on high-quality prepared diets, canned snails, and supplemented greens. Docile, manageable in size (reaching about 12–15 inches), and visually unique, the Pink-Tongued Skink is the perfect choice for a keeper who wants the "skink personality" in a more vertical, bioactive display.
